Stalwart Dave delivers the goods at Tydd Gote Angling Club’s Sunday match

Tydd Gote Angling Club stalwart Dave Parlett was the top performer at the Sunday club match at Main Road – more than doubling the weight of runner-up Don Green.

With a strong downstream wind, Parlett couldn’t fish quite as far out as he wanted to at peg two – but his worm hookbait fished at 10m was soon picked up by a big tench.

And, with another following later in the match along with some good perch, he put 18lb 2oz on the scales for an impressive win.

At the next upstream peg, Green employed his favoured hemp and tares approach for some quality roach in his 8lb 14oz net and second place.

Behind him, Pete Emery’s 4lb 14oz off peg 4 enough for third place.

Upstream of the road bridge, Dennis Houghton headed a series of close weights to take fourth spot with 4lb 12oz.

Wednesday Open result (at Main Road): 1st Dennis Houghton 12lb 13oz; 2nd John Taylor 10lb 3oz 3; Bob Bates 7lb 2oz.
