Stallholders needed for wedding fayre

Organising a wedding fayre from scratch would faze a lot of people but not June Wright.

June is working hard to bring together an event, which takes place at Ayscoughfee Hall, Spalding, on September 11 (10.30am-4pm), and all proceeds will go to Sue Ryder’s Thorpe Hall Hospice.

June, of Spalding, lost her first husband David to cancer 20 years ago and says she wanted the hospice to know how grateful she still is for the amazing care he received there.

She said: “They were fantastic, not just in the way they looked after David, but the support they gave the whole family. It’s been 20 years but I didn’t want them to think I’d forgotten how great they were so I decided to do something to say thanks again.

“This year is the hospice’s 25th anniversary, so it seemed the perfect time to do it.”

June has organised various charity events, such as coffee mornings, in the past but nothing on this scale.

She added: “It’s taken a lot of organising. Fortunately I’ve got some helpers and I couldn’t have done it without them.”

June has about 20 stalls booked for the event so far but is looking for more, particularly people specialising in wedding invitations and hairdressing. So far she has stalls offering bridal and bridesmaid gowns, cakes, photography, cars, beauty, jewellery and mother of the bride outfits.

Stalls cost £55, all of which will go directly to the charity. Other proceeds will be raised on the day thanks to a “New to You” sale and a raffle. June is also looking for event sponsorship.

She and her friends have already raised £688 by knitting and selling chicks which are available at Spalding Golf Club, the Sue Ryder shop in Spalding and Andrews DIY at Little London and they are holding a tombola at Morrisons’ Pinchbeck store on July 7.

If you would like a stall at the event or can help with sponsorship, contact June on 01775 710606.
