Springfields hosts a special service

The annual Remembrance Service and parade held at Springfields Shopping Outlet saw shoppers join a host of people from numerous organisations in paying their respects to the fallen.

Wreaths were laid at the memorial in Springfield Gardens on Saturday.

The gardens themselves were decorated with 100 hand-crafted poppies made by Nita Clarkson to mark the centenary of the end of World War One.

A moving ceremony was conducted at the memorial by Reverend John Bennett of St Mary and St Nicholas Church.

Chairman of South Holland District Council, Coun Rodney Grocock and the Royal British Legion’s Spalding branch chairman Frank White were among those laying wreaths.

Also in attendance were representatives of the 1406 (Spalding) Detachment of the RAF Air Cadets and members of the Spalding detachment of the Lincolnshire Army Cadet Force.
