Two paramedics from Spalding Ambulance Station are avoiding razors for a month to take part in Movember.
Movember is the annual charity event in which men are sponsored to sport a moustache and raise money and awareness for men’s health issues, such as prostate cancer, testicular cancer and suicide.
Spalding paramedics Trevor Wain and Tomas Picha have both signed up for the event and their top lip additions are in full force.
Trevor said he was taking part as he draws comparison with Movember and a similar women’s charity. He said:
“I see the event as the Man’s race for life. Unfortunately it raises a fraction of the funds. This is partly because there is no big event at the end and also many will partake without looking for sponsorship.”
Trevor and Tomas are both seeking sponsorship but Trevor said he’s not a fan of his new look.
“Participating is our little way of having a little fun and raising money for cancer research.
“I personally hate the moustache on me, but that’s part of the challenge,” Trevor said.
