Spellbound by storytellers

Six talented new authors won the chance to read their stories to primary school students recently.

The South Lincolnshire Academies Trust’s Read You Way competition was for students from Years Seven to Nine to write and illustrate a short story or poem aimed at primary school children.
Lucy Shortland, Rosanna Smith, Alexis Dakteris, Alex Bloodworth-Flatt, Winter Wheatley and Elizabeth Hammond were all selected to read to the Year One class at Spalding St Paul’s Primary School.
The students also helped the pupils with reading.
A spokesman for the trust said: “There was much excitement in the Year One class when the Spalding Academy students visited St Paul’s.
“The younger children were incredibly receptive and enjoyed the creative tales that the students had crafted, which includes original stories and re-imagined versions childhood favourites.
“They also loved how the students brought their stories and characters to life as they were beautifully illustrated with their designs.”
