Speed limits through village to be looked at

The speed limit through Weston Hills and between it and Low Fulney looks set to be dropped by 10mph.

Lincolnshire County Council’s Planning Committee has been asked whether it should drop the 40mph on Austendyke Road.

Officers are also recommending the current 50mph limit on Weston Hills Road into the village as you come from Spalding be lowered to 40mph.

The report to the committee says speed surveys say the average speeds seen on the road exceed their current limits.

It states: “The police, as enforcing authority, have been consulted on this matter and have raised no concerns regarding the reductions as proposed, but in relation to the existing 50mph to be dropped to 40mph they have stated that this is unlikely to be enforced.

“Officers can report that there have been two reported accidents on this section of road during the last five years.”
