Top Spalding Golf Club talent Hugo Kedzlie has retained his Lincolnshire under-14 and under-16 championship titles.

Teenage sensation Kedzlie scored a 36-hole nett 136 total at Holme Hall Golf Club in Scunthorpe to clinch the two trophies, but just failed to take the boys’ under-18 title after losing a sudden death play-off hole.

The 13-year-old shot rounds of 67 (nett 63) and 77 (nett 73) – and with his gross 144 total was the undisputed leader until the final group of the 50 entries came in.

That was before Sam Done (70+74=144), of Kenwick Park GC (Louth), matched his score to force the play-off.

At the additional par three hole Kedzlie had a tap in par from about 20 feet, but his opponent drained a 15 foot putt for a birdie to take the boys’ championship title.

Kedzlie, who now plays off a two handicap, will now progress – with Done – to the England and Midland area champion of champions events, later in the year.
