Spalding’s royals make their mark on Jersey

The Spalding Flower Queen Becs Roberts and her deputy Demi Gilchrist were in Jersey last weekend for its Battle of the Flowers.

After welcoming the St Helier queen in May to Lincolnshire they were part of the delegation from the town that went to the parade in the Channel Islands.
The pair joined St Helier’s senior and junior queens Kay McLachlan and Eve Pimblot alongside the town’s winning float which had a Beauty and the Beast form.

The delegation from Spalding included Steve Timewell and Giovanna Grieco of sponsor Aphoenix Care.

“I have been honoured to continue the tradition of sending our Flower Queens to Jersey,” Mr Timewell said. “I think the link between St Helier and Spalding is very important and I would like, in the future to make more of it, perhaps a full official twinning or some kind of cultural contract.

“The girls had an amazing time in Jersey and the council there made us very welcome. They certainly did Spalding proud,”
