Spalding’s gymnasts impress at county events

The talented girls from Spalding Gymnastics Academy were among the medals at the recent county junior and senior championships.

Held at their Cradge Bank base, five clubs contested the titles – and the standard was very high.

The junior section did themselves proud competing at a higher level than they usual do. Evie Freeman did well to finish third, while Ruby Vertuccio and Alice Baxter who performed well without winning a medal.

In the senior section, Spalding gymnasts were in the medals again with Jennifer Platt doing superbly well to finish second. Emma Goodliffe just missed out in fourth, while Amy Loveridge was sixth.

Also taking part for Spalding were Hannah Lawrence, Lauren Cooke and Serena Leadbeater.

  • Spalding’s boys put in an equally impressive showing at their county floor and vault championships.

The club’s juniors finished second with some good routines, while the second team managed fourth.

This was a first competition for some of the lads and they showed very little nerves. Meanwhile, the senior boys came away with the bronze – a great performance against boys that were a lot more older and skillful.
