Woman (87) and man (83) from Spalding die in separate crashes

UPDATE: Police have released the name of a pensioner who died in hospital after a collision near Sutterton on New Year’s Eve.

He was Maurice Abrams (83), of Wygate Road, Spalding.

Collision investigation officer Matt Carpenter said:” Mr Abrams was driving a silver Peugeot 206 that emerged from the B1397 onto the A17 from east to west and collided with a white Ford Focus travelling south to Norfolk.

“We are still trying to trace a number of witnesses who assisted at the scene, including a woman who was walking her dog.

Monday, 9.30am: A Spalding woman has died in hospital following a traffic accident on December 27.

The 87-year-old woman from Spalding was a passenger in a Renault Clio which left the road on the A17 at Fulbeck at around 12.25pm.

She was taken to the Queens Medical Centre in Nottingham, where her condition deteriorated and she died on Friday morning.

The woman’s 84 year-old husband, who was driving, suffered less serious injuries and has since been discharged from hospital.

An 83-year-old Spalding man has also died after being involved in a road accident in Sutterton on New Year’s Eve.

The man was airlifted to Queen’s Medical Centre after the crash between a white Ford Fiesta and a silver Peugeot 206 at about 1.40pm, but died later from his injuries.

Names of the victims will not be released by police until family members have been informed.
