Just six days after Hafiz Majeed broke a 27-year Spalding Town all-time batting record with 158, Jimmy Hook went two better with an amazing 160 not out at Broad Lane on Sunday.
The teenager’s titanic knock came in the Rutland League Division Six derby with Moulton Harrox 2nd – which Town won by a massive 184 runs.
Lincolnshire under-17 ace Hook opened up the batting as Spalding made 305-4 and carried his bat all the way through as he made a stunning century that will live long in the memory.
Fellow opener Jordan Butcher added 56 before falling to Will Naylor (1-40), while Matt Gill (22) and Majeed (27) also kept Hook company for a period.
Josh Lawrence (15 not out) was with him at the end as Town closed out their 45 overs with a remarkably high score.
Harrox’s run chase was always going to be tough – and the pressure to score quickly saw them lose wickets at regular intervals.
Lewis Peak (21) top scored, while Andy Goodley (18), Alex Baker (16), Will Shields (15) and Steve French (14) added double-figure scores before they were dismissed for 121.
Harry DeCamps (3-14) and Jonah Gill (2-26) were the pick of the Town bowlers as they moved level with Harrox in second place in the table.
