Spalding tip closed after fire

Spalding’s Waste Recycling Centre has been closed today (Friday, September 3) after a fire broke out.

Fire crews from Spalding and Donington attended the West Marsh Road site after a fire started within a compactor at around 1pm

A spokesman for Lincolnshire Fire and Rescue said: “Crews used one hose reel and rakes to extinguish. There were no casualties reported.”

The site was closed as a result and Lincolnshire County Council say it will remain closed for the rest of the day to carry out further investigations.

A county council spokesman said: “We are sorry for any inconvenience caused.”
