Spalding team of Bakkavor staff helps town’s RBL branch with Poppy Appeal

A team of employees at Bakkavor’s Spalding site have pledged their time to support this year’s Poppy Appeal for Remembrance Day.

Steve Scholes, a team leader at the site, and six colleagues will once again be helping Spalding branch of Royal British Legion with delivery and collection of poppy boxes around the town.
The team will also be helping with the collection at Springfields on November 6 and on Remembrance Day on Sunday, November 9.

This marks the fifth year running Bakkavor has supported the Royal British Legion with this and the Bakkavor team has even had special fleeces made to show their commitment.

Seven ex-servicemen and staff shop manager Pat Baxter, from the site, are also travelling to London on November 6 to help plant the ceramic poppies at the Tower of London as part of this year’s First World War Remembrance Day Parade.
Mr Scholes said: “We are delighted to once again be supporting the local Royal British Legion with their appeal.”
