The new Lincolnshire Board Premier League season started in disappointing fashion for Spalding Town.
They fell to a seven-wicket defeat at home to Bracebridge Heath, scoring just 114 despite Jon Manton (28) and captain Ollie Dring (20) putting on 36 for the first wicket.
Wickets fell steadily after that as the hosts slumped to 65/6 before Nilantha Atapattu steadied things with a solid 34.
However, no one could dig in at the other end with the last four wickets falling for 24 runs.
Ben Whitehouse was the thorn in the side for Spalding, taking 6-26 from his 10 overs.
Bracebridge cruised to victory inside 24 overs with openers Sam Mason (37) and Alex Clegg (26) setting them on their way with a stand of 54.
Harsh Bhandri and Ollie Dring took the openers’ wickets and they slipped to 93/3 when Brett Houston was run out by Ethan Lawrence.
However, Krish Barla (19no) and Alex Willerton (11no) struck three fours and a six between then to send the visitors to a winning 115/3
It was even more emphatic for Spalding Seconds in Division Two of the South Lincs Border League.
Hosts Royal Boston rattled up 200/8, despite the efforts of Sam Webster (3-23), Josh White (2-20) and Lily Spridgen (2-52).
Opener Andrew Sorrell (15) was the only Spalding batsman to reach double figures as they were bowled out for 48 in 24 overs.
