Spalding Sink hole closed road hoped to re-open ‘within the next month’

Anglian Water has announced today (Thursday) that works underway to repair the closed Albion Street in Spalding will be completed “within the next month”.

An Anglian Water spokesperson said: “We have completed the initial assessment of the damaged section of sewer in Albion Street, Spalding and will be starting the excavation of the site on Monday.

“We will be taking over the traffic management from Highways today and will have a full, clear diversion in place before the weekend.

“The road closure is essential to ensuring that safety of the local public and our teams during the completion of the work on Albion Street.”

The company found a “collapsed sewer pipe” on Monday.

The spokesman continued: “This is a complex repair and we apologise for the disruption this will cause to residents and local businesses.

“We are hoping to have the work completed within the next month.”
