Spalding round off season with a win

Spalding emerged triumphant in their second annual outdoor tournament to wrap up their outdoor season at Bourne Pool.
A mixed tournament of games saw the hosts take on Grantham and Northampton in a round-robin series before a second round played on handicap.
Spalding finished with six points, Northampton five and Grantham one.
Results: Grantham 2 Northampton 8, Spalding 8 Northampton 6, Grantham 2 Spalding 8.
Handicap: Grantham (+6) 9 Northampton 9, Northampton (+2) 13 Spalding 7, Grantham (+6) 8 Spalding 12.
Spalding’s Top Gun (scored the most goals) was jointly won by Gareth Lord (Spalding) and Owen Spencer (Northampton).
The Major King (committed the most fouls) was jointly won by Aaron Trevor and Lenny Hilton (both Grantham).
The most valuable player awards (selected by coaches went to Owen Spencer (Northampton), Sam Thompson (Grantham) and Harry Bumfrey (Spalding)
Thanks were expressed to the staff at Bourne Outdoor Pool, Sally Hook, Dave Lord and ‘Fergus’ from Northampton and Chris Tunks for refereeing, and the Spalding Thinktank group who organise the event – Nick Rickett, Tom Marsters, John James, Dave Lord and Matt Papworth.
