Spalding RFC Vets take centre stage with derby win over Deepings

With Spalding RFC’s top two teams not in action over the weekend all eyes were on the veteran side – and they beat Deepings vets 47-28 at the Memorial Field on Saturday.

In a highly entertaining match, Spalding Vets dominated the first half and ran in six unanswered tries to lead their visitors 32-0.

Half time substitutions by the Deepings saw them strengthening their team as they came back strongly in the second half, outscoring the home team by five tries to three.

Spalding RFC’s first team are back in Midlands Three East (North) action this Saturday when they visit fourth-placed Rolls Royce (3pm).
