Spalding RFC suffer crushing defeat at leaders Syston

Saturday proved another day to forget for Spalding RFC as they were handed a huge 100-5 reverse by  Midlands One East leaders Syston.

Rock-bottom Town were always massive underdogs against at side that started the day 99 points ahead of them – and so it proved.

It’s now 24 losses from as many matches for Ben Williams’ side, with the 95-point losing margin their joint-worst showing of the season.

They now have to focus on gaining an elusive first win of the campaign in one of their final two matches of the season, which are against Bedford Athletic (home, April 11, 3pm) and Belgrave (away, April 18, 3pm).

More to follow.
