Spalding resident in court for knife and driving offences

A 44-year-old man has received a suspended prison sentence for having a knife in a public place.

Fernando Carvalho, of Roman Bank, Spalding, pleaded not guilty to having the “large knife” in the town on November 22 last year.

He was found guilty on April 17 and was sentenced at Boston Magistrates’ Court on Tuesday.(April 25)

As well as the 26-week jail term, suspended for two years, Carvalho was ordered to pay £115 to fund victim services and £350 prosecution costs.

He pleaded guilty to driving a Renault Clio in Cowbit Road on November 22 last year, while having no insurance (disqualified from driving for six months), no MOT certificate (no separate penalty) and fraudulently using a registration mark (no separate penalty).

Carvalho admitted a breach of a suspended sentence made in June 2015 for driving while disqualified and having no insurance. He was fined £50 and he order will continue.

He was also given a two-week prison sentence, suspended for two years, after pleading guilty to theft of whiskey and chocolate worth £27 from Iceland store in Spalding.
