A Spalding resident caught drink-driving on the A17 at Holbeach has been banned for 18 months.

Ionel Costache, of Westlode Street, was driving a Citroen Picasso on April 1 with 60 microgrammes of alcohol in 100 millilitres of breath. The legal limit is 35.

Appearing before Boston magistrates on Wednesday, the 48-year-ld was also fined £350 and ordered to pay costs of £85 and £35 to fund victim services.

He also pleaded guilty to having no insurance, no test certificate and driving otherwise than in accordance with his licence (no separate penalty for each charge).

Costache can cut his ban by 18 weeks if he completes a £250 course by April 29, 2018.
