Spalding pub ditches Halloween for Jesus

A Spalding group has negotiated a three-night “alternative to Halloween” at a town pub.

The three-strong Spalding leg of The Light Collective will take over decorations at The Ivy Wall pub between October 28-31 for “light project evenings”, according to group member Joseph Edwards.

Mr Edwards said the evenings will carry a Christian message but still have pumpkins and sweets – but with hearts carved into them and bowls of Love Hearts along the bar.

The group had done similar things in Peterborough and have recently visited The Ivy Wall to give out Christian literature, to pray for people in the pub and have also given out “free hugs” in town.

“Goodie bags” from United Christian Broadcasting will be available at the pub.

There’s been no mention whether there’ll be a special offer on holy spirits.
