Spalding Town have their first victory of the season as they battled to a tight three wicket win over Nettleham in the Lincolnshire Premier Division.
Ollie Dring elected to field on winning the toss at home on Saturday and Harsh Bhandari (2-29) and Nilantha Attpattu (3-31) made early in-roads with the new ball.
The pair left the visitors to Seas End Hall 14-3 and then 57-5 early on.
Odin Thom (38) and Husnian Gul (56 from 48 balls) rallied their side with a partnership of 77 but Barnaby Dring (2-29) came on to bowl both.
Walter Kinlock (2-43) and picked up wickets quick wickets as Nettleham slumped to 159-9.
Number 11 Jack Butler came in to give them more hope scoring 38 not out from 36 deliveries.
Samuel Ashcroft’s (6) stubborn resistance in their partnership of 46 was finally ended by Mathew Key (1-41) in the 44th over.
It left Spalding needing 207 to win.
After losing skipper Ollie Dring (3) early, Jamie Coles (39) joined Jon Manton (26) in rebuilding putting on 77 for the second wicket.
However both were adjudged lbw to Vinura Dulsara (4-23) mini-collapse put Spalding 102-5 and the game back in the balance.
Bhandari (20) and Kinlock (38) put on a much needed partnership of 56 to steady the ship.
When the latter was the fifth to be given lbw the eighth wicket pair of Josh and Ethan Lawrence still had to get 35 runs to win.
But with plenty of overs in hand they batted sensibly and secured the win with five overs in hand.
Spalding’s 2nd XI were in action in the Dave Morris Cup and earned a first win of the season with at Skegness 2nd XI.
A fine all round bowling display from Town’s bowlers earned them the win as they managed to defend 122.
They kept things tight with six of the team picking up wickets to ensure Skegness’ chase fell 11 runs short.
Luke Sorrell (2-2), Andrew Sorrell (2-6), Sam Webster (2-14), Dan Mulley (2-19), Josh White (1-13) and Leighton Graham (1-14) held their nerve to bowl the hosts out with seven overs to spare.
Earlier Webster top scored with 35 before Skegness’ Shamus Dawson (6-13) instigated a Spalding collapse.
