Spalding Indoor Bowls Club’s under-25 team book place in last four of nationals

Spalding Indoor Bowls Club’s under-25 team have progressed to the semi-finals of their national competition after beating Scarborough in a game played both home and away.

The home rink of Ruby Hill, Chelsea Tomlin and Jordan Philpott were involved in a close affair, with scores level at 4-4 after five ends. After ten ends, they were 7-6 up before picking up seven shots and conceding three in the next five ends to lead 14-9 with three to play.

After dropping four shots in the closing ends, they claimed one shot victory, 14-13.

The away rink of Lauren Finbow, Rhys Hill and Ben Wilson had an equally tough rink to face having travelled for three hours to Scarborough.

However, having dropped two shots over the first two ends never looked in trouble, leading 9-2 after five ends and continuing their good form throughout.

They convincingly pulled away to record a 25-13 win, giving Spalding an overall win of 39 shots to 26.

They have now qualified for the last four, to be played at Nottingham IBC on April 7 (1.30pm). There, they will face Swale and hopefully go on to reach the final played on the same day at 6pm.
