Spalding Indoor Bowls Club’s Ruby and Chelsea make a fine team for England

Spalding Indoor Bowls Club’s Chelsea Tomlin and Ruby Hill represented England in the under-25 ladies’ international series at Islwyn over the weekend.

England have historically dominated the series in recent years, but it was Scotland who were victorious after two days of play.

Tomlin and Hill both lost their opening matches – but were teamed together for the last day.

And what a performance the two Spalding stars put in, winning their match 29-14 against a rink headed by Wales’ S Nichols.

  • Spalding IBC’s A team won their latest men’s county league division one fixture with a 128 shots to 71 scoreline against Sleaford on Saturday.

Spalding were the hosts and found themselves in control from the outset to win on an impressive four rinks out of five.

The best winning rink was J Laud, G Hicks, J Needham and M Spencer, who recorded an emphatic 38-14 success in what was a top team display.
