Spalding Indoor Bowls Club make a grand donation to charity LIVES

A year of fundraising led by two women from Spalding Indoor Bowls club has culminated with a four-figure donation to LIVES.

Gloria Haney and Maisie Belding, both of Spalding IBC, handed over a cheque for £1,258.55 to Gordon Kirk from the charity, which is a volunteer community team of first responders with a presence in South Holland.

Monies raised came from a second hand bowls clothes sale, with clothes donated by club members and two cake stalls, which were very well supported.

In addition, proceeds from the raffle held on the club’s annual Ladies versus Gents Presidents Day also went to the LIVES charity.

The funds raised were boosted as Haney was the Lincolnshire ladies’ President for the season and proceeds from her raffle money taken at her County President’s day went to the charity.

  • Spalding IBC’s ladies enjoyed a comfortable start to their Trudy Bates campaign.

They secured a 122-78 shot victory at home against Sleaford, winning on four rinks.

The best winning rink was F Lyon, M Coleman, M Belding and G Needham, who won 27-13.

It was a good day for Spalding, who took 14 of the 16 match points on offer.

Other rink scores: S Wade 25-17; B Deaton 27-14; G Haney 27-15; P O’Brien 16-19.
