Spalding Gymnastic Club’s boys had a very successful day at Rushden and Diamonds Gymnastic Centre as they won a host of medals competing against clubs from Northamptonshire.
In the junior section’s age 7/8 years category, Lucas Webb and Taylor Binns won gold and silver on mushroom, while Webb also bagged bronze on parallel bars and another gold on rings.
The talented Taylor also got bronze on high bar and a great gold on rings.
More medals came in in the 9/10 age group, with Theo Briston taking bronze on mushroom and parallel.
Up In the 11/12 years category, Jamie Waterson amazingly won gold on mushroom, silver on high bar, gold on floor and bronze on rings.
Not done there, the multi-talented Zac Chapman enjoyed a fine day with silver on mushroom, bronze on high bar, silver on parallel bars, bronze on vault and another gold on rings.
In the same section, Ollie Rushton got bronze on mushroom, bronze on parallel bars silver on rings.
Bradley Ivatt was the star in the 13/14 age group as he won silver on pommel, high bar, parallel bars, vault and floor plus bronze on rings.
In the age 14 and above section, Ross Chapman was in stunning form. He won gold on pommel, high bar, floor and rings, plus silver on pommel bars and bronze on vault. Team-mate Luke Waterson also grabbed gold on parallel bars and silver on the pommel, high bar vault, floor and rings.
Overall, it was a very exciting day for all involved, with the lads a credit to the club.

At Level Five, the team of Amelia Fox, Katie Parker, Lucia Kato and Rebecca Fones took the silver medal position. Also competing at this level were the team of Dannii Garner, Millie Weller Samantha Fones and Erin Hope, who finished seventh.
The Level Four team of Alice Baxter, Ruby Vertuccio, Dulcie Baker and ChelsiParker finished third to win bronze medal. Also, the team of Elexia Coote, Sian Matson, Ellie Keeble and Elinor Hughes competed well and finished seventh.
At Level Three, meanwhile, Spalding got bronze medal with the team of Hannah Lawrence, Amy Loveridge and Lauren Cook.
In the final level of the day, Jennifer Platt, Serena Leadbeater and Emma Goodliff went one better and grabbed the silver medal.
It was a good day for all of those competing the standard keeps rising – meaning Spalding’s gymnasts have to work harder to maintain the level required.
