Spalding Guides join thousands at Lincoln Showground jamboree

A group of Spalding Guides and leaders joined thousands of others enjoying an International Jamboree.

There were a total of 5,500 scouts and guides from 24 countries, with 3,000 leaders and volunteers at Lincoln Showground.
The Spalding district group tried a range of activities from free-fall stunt jumping to trapeze and riding a segway.
The week-long event also featured displays each lunchtime which included medieval jousting, and the Imps Motorcycle Display Team.
The UK’s Chief Scout Bear Grylls also dropped in by helicopter for a surprise visit.
Called The Poacher, the jamboree also had a junior day when members of the Brownies from Pinchbeck and Spalding also attended.
The closing ceremony included a Little Mix tribute band and the dance group Diversity.
“Thank you to Spalding Lions, South Holland Rotary, Spalding and Welland Rotary, Spalding Round Table and Spalding Inner Wheel for their donations. Also to Crowland Caravans and Camping for the equipment and Hire Force for the loan of a van,” said a spokesman.
