Spalding Golf Club players were on inspired form at the Lincolnshire Ladies’ Golf Association County Betterball South Stableford competition.
With the Surfleet course playing host to the event, some 72 players from clubs across South Lincolnshire were in South Holland to contest the Isabel Halmshaw and Betty Gresham Salvers.
Home advantage proved key and ensured that three Spalding pairs finished in the top five of the final standings.
Leading the way as winners were Spalding’s Lynda Double and Angela Roper with an impressive 45 points.
Spalding team-mates Olive Gooderson and Sue Matthews took second place on 42 points, ahead of Liz Haughton and Sheila Douty (Greetham Valley) on countback.
Spalding’s Dina Reedman and Theresa Starbuck finished in fourth place on 40 points, edging Toft’s Lorraine Robinson and Helen Roscoe in fifth (also 40 points).
- Elaine Hancock, Angela Roper and Eden Inglis took the top prize at Spalding Golf Club’s Lady Captain’s Day event – although it was a competition with a twist this year.
Some 72 lady members played in the Stableford competition over 18 holes, with captain Paula Brown deciding that each team of three weren’t allowed to know whose score would count until they reached the next tee.
There was also the possibility of minus scores on the back nine, which kept the ladies entertained.
Leading trio Hancock, Roper and Inglis edged Ruth Atkins, Barbara Newcombe and Jane Woolard into second, with Sue Matthews, Olive Gooderson and Margaret Barkway third.
Nearest the pin on the ninth for Division Two was Matthews, while nearest on the 16th for Division One was Roper.
