Spalding Gentleman’s Society brings Brian Blessed to town

More tickets have been released for a popular visit to Spalding next month by Brian Blessed (pictured).

The star – who describes himself as “actor, adventurer, raconteur” – will be on stage at the South Holland Centre on Thursday, June 9.
He will be recounting tales of his adventures, notably up Mount Everest and becoming the oldest man to walk to the magnetic North Pole.

This event has been arranged by Spalding Gentlemen’s Society to commemorate the birthday of its founder, Maurice Johnson. Born on June 9, 1688 at Ayscoughfee Hall in Spalding, Johnson was a London barrister and, when he inherited the hall in 1710, founded the Gentlemen’s Society to promote and foster among the public knowledge, appreciation and the study of art, literature, music, science, archaeology, natural history, ornithology and general knowledge.

Tickets for “An Evening with Brian Blessed” are available from the South Holland Centre, by phone on 01775 764777 or online at www.southhollandcentre.co.uk
