A Spalding fundraiser is celebrating after her first successful outing – and wants to find enthusiastic people more events.
Mary Abayomi (22) set up a tombola stall and collection bucket in Hall Place, Spalding throughout December. She said: “I wasn’t expecting much but everyone is so generous. It went really well.”
The bucket collection raised £65.03 and the tombola stall raised £132.70 for charity Oxfam GB.
Mary said she decided to support Oxfam after volunteering as Regional Coordinator for the charity’s national Oxjam concerts and attending the Peterborough leg.
She said: “The best thing about the event was the amazing attitude the volunteers had. They were so happy and excited to be there and it was infectious. I loved every minute of my time there! I’m hoping to do something music related with the fundraising group next year if I get enough willing volunteers.”
Mary, who recently graduated from the University of Manchester, has formed a local charity group, Oxfam Spalding, and wants enthusiastic people to join her cause.

Mary also runs the YouTube channel Young and Disabled. She said it is designed “to make conversations around disability less awkward by showing them what young disabled people actually get up to.”
