Spalding Flower Parade organisers looking to put stage up in town centre for confirmed 2025 event based at Springfields

The Spalding Flower Parade will take place next year on Saturday, May 10.

It follows a vote held earlier this week on whether to base the parade at Springfields or not hold it at all next year.

A statement from the flower parade committee released last night did not give the result of the vote, but announced the May 10 date.

It follows the Castle Sports Field not being available next year due to planned redevelopment.

“Several sites were considered and the merits of each one were taken into consideration,” the flower parade committee’s statement says. “The overriding consideration is safety for everyone involved.

“Financial implications and access to the sites were also key factors.

“There was only one site that fulfilled all criteria, the Springfields Horticultural Society complex.

“So we are absolutely delighted to announce that, following the public vote on social media, the Spalding Flower Parade will return on Saturday, May 10.”

The group says they are planning to put on regular shuttle buses between the town centre and Springfields while the parade route will be ‘similar’ and still go through the town where its hoped a stage can be put up providing entertainment.

“There’s so much we can and want to do,” the statement continues. “We are really excited about it.

“If you would like to get involved we would love to hear from you.”

The chairman of Springfields Horticultural Society, Adrian Jansen, said: “The society’s trustees will be pleased to hear that we have been able to help with the parade organisation next year and in particular that all those groups and individuals, especially the children, can start planning their part in the event.

“Hopefully it will be a fun and enjoyable day for all.”
