Spalding Fire Crew rescue dog from icy water

Lincolnshire Fire and Rescue have issued a warning to dog owners after a pet had to be recused from an icy Vernatt’s Drain yesterday (Sunday).

Spalding Fire Crew were called out to the waterway around 3.10pm after a spaniel became stuck in icy water.

A spokesman for the fire service said: “This spaniel was rescued by one tethered crew member and returned to its owner.

“Please be mindful of your surroundings when it comes to taking dogs off their leads.”
