Spalding community worker makes awards finals

A Spalding community worker who saved a group for lung disease sufferers has been honoured.

Suzanne Wills had been involved in the Spalding Happy Breathers COPD group as part of her job with Lincolnshire Community and Voluntary Service.

Funding for the group ended in the summer but Suzanne has carried on as a volunteer in her own time to keep it going.

She was one of three finalists in the recent Lincolnshire Health Awards in the Volunteer of the Year category. The group meets on the last Thursday of the month at the Ivo Day centre.

Although she didn’t win, Suzanne said she was honoured to be a finalist.

“It was so nice just to be there and hear about all the other wonderful finalists and the work they are doing,” she said.
