Spalding Bakery staff on the rise with apprenticeship skills

Valued employees on an apprenticeship scheme at Spalding Bakery have been thanked and rewarded for their efforts.

The seven staff members – all foreign nationals – have passed the Level 2 Apprenticeship in Food Manufacturing using baking industry skills for the specialist industry knowledge component.
The qualification was delivered in partnership with the National Centre for Food Manufacturing in Holbeach, which hosted off-the-job training.

University of Lincoln lecturer Esther Penney joined a celebration lunch at the premises last Friday during which the employees were each presented with a certificate and an Addo Food Group body warmer in recognition of their achievement.

The successful apprentices are Sylwia Gawlowska, Marian Varga, Jana Vargova, Andrejus Cukanovas, Sandra Glinska, Mykolas Arlauskas and Maija Strodaha-Malkevica.

HR manager Sharon Steley said: “An apprenticeship is a productive and effective way for Addo to grow their own talent by developing a motivated, skilled and qualified workforce.
“Two of the employees who successfully passed the apprenticeship programme have been able to apply their learnings and progress into a relief team leader position.”
