Spalding Town 2nd have climbed to the top of South Lincs and Border League Division One after a crushing 81-run win over Woodlands on Saturday.
On a day badly hit by rain, the formidable duo of Mike Kearns (76) and Ansar Hussain (76no) fired Town to 187-4 from their 45 overs.
Tanveer Hussain (3-8), James Hook (3-34) and Sanj Tott (2-26) then did the damage with the ball to dismiss hosts Woodlands for 106 in 27.2 overs.
Steve Norris’ charges now lead Market Deeping 2nd by three points at the summit, but have played two games more.
Spalding’s second string were the only South Holland side to play on Saturday, with all other fixtures – including Spalding Town 1st’s much-anticipated trip to Grimsby Town – washed out.
