Luke Elliott competed in five events at for the East Midlands Swimming Team at the Euro Meet 2016 in Luxembourg.
The South Lincs Competitive Swimming Club teenager was part of a relatively small contingent and performed admirably well.
Elliott said: “I really enjoyed the experience.
“I was part of a great team and we saw GB and European Olympic swimmers.
“We saw some European records and lots of Meet records broken. I hope to continue to train and compete well, building on my skills and working on my speed so that I can go again.”
A few days after returning from Luxembourg, 16-year-old Elliott was back in action at the long course ‘Groundhog’ swim meet, held at the University of East Anglia SportsPark in Norwich.
Sadly, his goal to secure British Championship qualifying times for Glasgow was not to be met – although he earned six medals from as many events.
He won gold in the 400m freestyle, plus five silvers in the 100m back, 400m IM, 200m butterfly, 200m back and 100m butterfly (PB).
Elliott added: “I didn’t really swim very well – my times were quite a lot slower than my PBs. I do feel the skills were there, just not the speed.”
