South Holland tourism expected to benefit if fishing holiday park approved

A leisure development with 12 fishing cabins is planned in Fleet Hargate.

It’s hoped that, if the proposal receives planning permission, it could provide a boost for tourism in South Holland.
The “small scale” two-bedroom properties would be on a site near Hovenden House, near Lowgate.

A statement submitted with the plans said: “The cabins will provide accommodation for holidaymakers only with three existing lakes that will be used for recreational fishing.
“The proposed comprehensive landscaping surrounding and contained within the site will enhance the aesthetics and setting of the proposal.”

The applicant is Larkfleet Homes and the landowner is D Rouse.
The original idea was for 24 cabins, but the number was halved after pre-application advice by the district council.

The planning statement said: “With regards to tourism, the proposed leisure facility will help to attract visitors to the area.”
It added that the rural economy and local employment would benefit during installation and operation.
