Most people in South Holland are “behaving themselves”, the district council’s leader has said in relation to low numbers of COVID-19 case in the area.
Lord Gary Porter told a meeting of the authority’s Full Council that the area hadn’t seen large increases in the coronavirus as experienced elsewhere leading to extra measures, including that pubs close at 10pm.
Lord Porter said: “The numbers for South Holland are extremely low compared with some of our neighbours and we should be thankful for that.
“Most of our residents are behaving themselves in line with the guidelines as set out and are not bringing the virus in or spreading it around those living here.
“Even with the schools re-opening our numbers have remained very low so that’s good news.”
A meeting of Lincolnshire County Council’s Health and Wellbeing board on Tuesday heard that the rate of COVID-19 infection was the second lowest in the East Midlands, despite seeing a mini-spike at the start of September.
