South Holland duo Spalding United and Holbeach United handed tricky tests in FA Cup

Both Spalding United and Holbeach United have learned their fate in the the early rounds of this season’s FA competitions after the draw was made on Friday.

Holbeach enter the FA Cup in the extra preliminary round and will host Swaffham Town at Carter’s Park on August 6.

Should the Tigers  progress through to the preliminary round, they face an away trip to either Kirkley & Pakefield or Walsham Le Willows on August 20.

Spalding enter the FA Cup at the preliminary round stage and have been drawn away at Bury Town.

In the FA Trophy, the Tulips have been handed an away tie at Evo-Stik NPL Division One South rivals Gresley in the preliminary round on October 8.

Should they win that, Dave Frecklington’s side will visit his former club Lincoln United or Romulus in another all Evo-Stik NPL Division One South tie in the first qualifying round on October 29.

Meanwhile, Holbeach have been handed a bye through to the first round proper of the FA Vase.

The Tigers kick off their pre-season fixtures at Bourne Town tonight (7.45pm), with Spalding visiting King’s Lynn Town for their friendly opener on Tuesday (7.45pm).
