The second weekend of South Lincs Competitive Swimming Club’s Championships saw a host of their members in action – from those making their debut to the most experienced swimmers.
Once again, there were some eye-catching swims and lots of new personal best (PB) times achieved by the swimmers over the two evenings of racing.
Competition got under way with the 200m breaststroke, with ten-year-old Susannah Poll – the youngest swimmer participating – clocking a new PB time.
Aliyah Mohamed, Sophie Bolton and Isabella Ciuberkyte all swam the event for the first time too and achieved some impressive times.
Kitty Lamb stormed to victory in the girls’ 10/11 years age group, lowering her PB by an impressive six seconds.
Sigourney Bolton took the win in the girls’ 12/13 years age group and broke the three-minute barrier for the first time.
Daniela Bringeman impressed in the girls’ 14/15 years age group as she claimed first place in a six-second PB.
The girls’ 16 years and over age group was won by Andre Ubaviciute, who took a sizeable four seconds off a long standing PB.
In the boys’ 200m breaststroke there was a stand-out swim from Kieran Ng in the 12/13 years age group as he touched the wall under the three minute mark for the first time.
Archie Robinson blitzed his heat and took off an impressive 11 seconds from his PB, while Oliver Lloyd also made a big improvement as he dropped nine seconds off his benchmark.
Alfie Bisby took the win in the boys’ 14/15 years age group with a whopping 13-second PB.
The girls’ 100m freestyle saw some fantastic swims, of particular note was newcomer Iris Lucas in the 10/11 years age group who swam the event for the first time.
Sophia Shackleston, in the girls’ 12/13 years age group, lowered her PB time by seven seconds to finish and in the same age group Karolina Uzpelke made a huge 14-second improvement on her PB.
Lilli Bowman took the win in the girls’ 14/15 years age group, bettering her PB in the process.
Jess O’Herlihy produced an exceptional swim in the girls’ 16 years and over age group, taking almost a full second off her PB en-route to victory.
Charlie Bisby broke the 70-second barrier for the first time in his 100m freestyle, while Leo Oldershaw produced a strong swim in the boys’ 10/11 years age group to take six seconds off his PB.
Will Vere couldn’t stop posting new PB times – and the 100m freestyle was no exception. He took five seconds off his previous best effort.
Morgan Griffin made a significant improvement on his best time as he knocked off a staggering 14 seconds.
Also impressing was Alfie Robinson, who posted the second fastest time of the evening as he lowered his PB to 57.19secs.
Next up, Natalie Taylor set a big new seven-second PB time in the girls’ 12/13 years age group of the 50m butterfly.
Oliwia Zajac also set a first time in this event with an impressive time of 46.32secs.
It was Lillie Hamilton who took the win in the girls’ 14/15 years age group with a new PB.
Also impressing was Jess Herriott, who set a two-second PB in the same group.
In the boys’ 50m butterfly there was a new PB for Isaac Bowman in the boys’ 12/13 years age group.
It was Alex Sadler who took the win in the boys’ 14/15 years age group, again with a new PB time.
The 100m Individual Medley (IM) always produces some exciting swimming, and Louise Herriott stormed to a new 15-second PB in her race.
Sigourney Bolton finished in first place in the girls’ 12/13 years age group with a four-second drop as she broke the 80-second barrier for the first time.
Lexi Hamilton finished in third place in this age group with another impressive time PB, knocking seven seconds off.
Emily Briggs also lowered her PB time by 11 seconds to stop the clock in a new mark of 1.23.97mins.
Mollie Briggs took the win in the girls’ 16 years and over age group as she touched the wall in a two-second PB.
Matteo Monaco took first place in the boys’ 12/13 years age group of the 100m IM as he stopped the clock in a PB time.
Also impressing were Aaron Sadler, who set a big new 16-seconds PB, and Charlie Ward, who took 11 seconds off his best.
Rico Bringeman took the win in the boys’ 16 years and over age group as he finished in 1.00.83mins – just narrowly missing out on breaking the illusive 60- second barrier for the first time.
Aliyah Mohamed set a massive new PB in the girls’ 200m freestyle. She swam a tremendous race to take second place in the girls 10/11 years age group.
Hannah Bruce won the girls’ 12/13 years age group of the 200m freestyle as she touched the wall in a new PB.
Lillie Hamilton was the winner in the girls’ 14/15 years age group as she lowered her PB by two seconds.
Grace Ravell swam to a huge new PB time, dropping 19 seconds off her previous time.
There was a closely-fought race in the girls’ 16 years and over age group between Mollie Briggs and Ellisha Cookson.
Only the clock could split them and the win went to Briggs in a time of 2.10.58mins, just 0.02secs ahead of Cookson.
Elsewhere, Bisby had another impressive swim, this time in the boys’ 10/11 years age group 200m freestyle.
He touched home in a time of 2.28.10mins to win his catergory and was followed home by ten-year-old Francesco Monaco, who improved his PB.
Older brother Matteo Monaco won the boys’ 12/13 years age group and set a new PB in the process.
Aidan Evans took third place in this age group with a two-second PB.
Kieran Lucy also made a significant improvement on his time in the 200m freestyle, lowering his PB by some 12 seconds.
Oscar Goldsmith swam to a four-second PB in the same event.
Switching events, Alisha Mohamed took the win in the girls’ 11 years and under 25m breaststroke with an impressive swim.
Emilijus Binkis was the winner in the boys’ 11 years and under version of the same event.
Kitty Lamb swam the 100m butterfly for the first time and won the girls’ 10/11 years age group in very impressive time of 1.21.27mins.
Lucy Wilson took first place in the girls’ 12/13 years age group of this event as she broke the 80-second barrier for the first time.
Lexi Hamilton also had a very impressive swim in the 100m butterfly, lowering her personal best time by ten seconds.
Matteo Monaco dropped seven seconds off his PB time in the 100m butterfly – but it wasn’t quite enough to catch Frank Lamb, who took the win in the boys’ 12/13 years age group in this event.
The in-forn Bisby had an impressive 100m butterfly, lowering his PB time by four seconds to win the boys’ 14/15 years age group.
Casey Hilliam was in action too and swam strongly in the 8/9 years age group of the 50m backstroke.
In a closely fought race with Emily Langley, the girls both finished with new PB times.
Orlaigh Greer made a significant improvement in her 50m backstroke as she touched the wall in a new PB time.
Isobel Walker also set a brilliant new best time in the 50m backstroke, having been struggling with injury for some time.
Daniela Bringeman took the win in the girls’ 14/15 years age group tasking more than a second off her PB in the process.
Cookson was victorious in the girls’ 16 years age group as she shaved a few hundredths of a second off her already strong PB.
Emilijus Binkis and Ignas Puzinas were in action in the boys’ 10/11 years age group of the 50m backstroke.
Both are still members of Junior Dolphins, the club’s teaching programme, and both achieved new PB times.
Kieran Ng swam to a new PB time in the boys’ 12/13 years age group to take second place, while Aidan Evans was third.
Bisby, Oliver Sorrell and Alex Sadler battled it out for first place in the boys 14/15 years age group.
All of the boys finished within half a second of each other with the win going to Bisby, with Sorrell second and Sadler third.
Rico Bringeman set the fastest time of the night as he convincingly broke the 30-second barrier for the first time.
Meanwhile, nine-year-old Nyah Gyamfi won her heat of the 11 and under 25m freestyle with an impressive swim, but the winner of the event was ten-year-old Lacie Morris.
Binkis won the boys’ 11 years and under 25m freestyle, once again in a tight battle with Puzinas.
The boys touched the wall just 0.09 seconds apart.
The final event of the championships was the 200m IM. Sophie Bolton took second place in the girls’ 10/11 years age group with a huge new PB.
Pela Tian Wright swam the event for the first time and set an impressive standard, while Jess Herriott lowered her best time by 12 seconds.
Mollie Briggs also set a new personal best time in the event as she lowered her previous mark by two seconds to finish in 2.32.78.
Kieran Ng took second place in the boys 12/13 years age group as he set a three second new personal best time of 2.40.43. Aidan Evans also lowered his personal best time by four seconds to stop the clock in a time of 2.45.90.
Vere continued to post new PB times and the 200m IM was no exception. He lowered his PB time by eight seconds.
Archie Robinson also set a huge new PB time and broke the three-minute barrier for the first time.
Once again, there was a close battle in the boys’ 14/15 years age group with the win going to Alfie Bisby in a new personal best time of 2.21.03.
Oscar Goldsmith took second place, just ahead of Oliver Sorrell as both boys touched home in close contention.
Robinson set a fine new PB time in the boys’ 16 years and over age group, an improvement of two seconds on his previous best time.
