Solicitor’s gruelling ride to raise cash for Macmillan charity

A Spalding solicitor is taking to the saddle to raise cash for a cancer charity by cycling from Land’s End to John O’ Groats.

Adrian Lazell is fundraising for Macmillan Cancer Support and will be taking to the roads in September for his mammoth ride.

“We have all lost someone to cancer. We lost John Aitken, our senior partner from Fraser Dawbarns. Every morning the office would be kicked into life with his arrival,” said Mr Lazell.

“Fundraising is hugely important to Macmillan. Without people doing events, running marathons, climbing mountains and donating in all the other ways you can, Macmillan wouldn’t exist,” he added.

He has been training hard for the journey which will cover a gruelling 969 miles from end-to-end of the country.

Mr Lazell, pictured, is a solicitor at the Wisbech office of Fraser Dawbarns and has raised money for a range of charities in a variety of ways, including sky-diving.

The cycle ride was prompted by the death of Mr Aitken and the fact cancer affects so many people, said Mr Lazell.

He is aiming to raise £2,000 for Macmillan and has set up a donation page online at www.justgiving.com/fundraising/Adrian-Lazell4
