Soldier’s Coronation duty

A Spalding man and former army cadet will be taking part in the parade for the Coronation of King Charles III this Saturday.

Andrew Cawthorne has been specially selected to march in the parade, having served in the army for 21 years.
He’s getting a promotion to Regimental Sergeant Major of the Light Dragoons, and found out last week he’d been hand-picked to take part in the historic event.
A former pupil of St Paul’s Primary School and Spalding Grammar School, Andrew became inspired after being a member of the Spalding Army Cadets.
Before joining the Army he worked on Michael Booth’s fruit and veg stall on Spalding Market.
Mum Joanna will be working at Spalding’s Southernwood Care Home on the day which is planning a special party.
“As a family we are very, very proud of Andrew,” she said.
