Society’s goes back to the Victorians for the event

Families can get in the festive frame of mind by celebrating a Victorian Christmas event at Ayscoughfee Hall, in Spalding, on Sunday, December 7.

Attendees can drop-in from between 12noon and 2.30pm.

During this event, children can have a go at making a range of seasonal crafts using recycled materials – including decorative paper chains, 3D Christmas cards, origami paper stars and book folding.

Visitors also have the chance to create their very own super-scented pomander to take away.

“It’s a great opportunity to discover more about the origins of our Christmas traditions and how they’ve evolved over the years,” explains organiser Louisa Evans, from Spalding Gentlemen’s Society. “It’s a fantastic way to hear how our Victorian ancestors celebrated the festive season.

“We’ll end the session with some carol singing for everyone to enjoy before heading home.”

This activity is free, but with only limited spaces available, attendees must register their interest in advance by calling 01775 725623 or by emailing [email protected].
