Snooker round-up: Whittlesey A get off to a flier, Bren bags best break so far

The Spalding and District Snooker League finally returned on Thursday night – and one side made a flying start.

Whittlesey A whitewashed hosts Gosberton A 6-0 to make the perfect start, Steve Jennings (O28) rounding off the victory with a black ball success in the final frame.

Consti A also started nicely in Division Three, as they saw off Gosberton D 5-1 with Paul Kent (R7), Peter Law (R21), Rob Savic (R7) and Martyn Johnson (R21) all on winning form.

It was closer as Gosberton C edged out Donington D 4-2, Stuart Tamplin (scr) seeing off Jay Kyle (R7) in the last frame to settle it.

Likewise, Pyramid E knocked off Consti I 4-2 with Neil Maclaine (scr) settling the match in the penultimate frame.

Up in Division One, Bren Bowman (O56) was in fine form with a 37 break and 32 clearance for Consti E. But his side were beaten 4-2 by visitors Services C.

Pyramid D also began with a 4-2 top tier triumph as Alfonso Palumbo (O49) made a 21 break en-route to clinching the decisive final frame.

Holbeach C, meanwhile, kicked off with a fine 5-1 success over club rivals Holbeach D. Mark Gregory (O28) starred with breaks of 28 and 23 for the victors.

Meanwhile in Division Two, Bourne SC picked up a 5-1 win at Whittlesey C on match day one.

Neil Burton (O14) denied them a six-point haul with a black-ball victory.

Also winning were Gosberton A, who beat hosts Sutton Bridge A 4-2 despite a 27 break from Thomas Horspool (O42).

Matching that score were Services E, who saw off Holbeach E 4-2 with Paul Spicer (O7) making a 22 clearance.
