Snooker round-up: Tulips B hit the Division One summit with massive victory

Tulips B won the big Spalding and District Snooker League fixture of the week to go top of the Division One table.

The Spalding side defeated previous leaders Pyramid D 4-2 in Bourne to leapfrog them and go one point clear in the top tier.

Wins from Ady Sibley (O21), Darren Woodberry (O42) and Mark Woodberry (O56) sealed the win – with Sibley starring by sinking a 36 break.

Third placed Services C are now just a point off Pyramid after they edged past basement side Boundary A 4-2. Vince Fitter (O28) nailed a 21 break in that one.

That puts them level with Long Sutton A, who slipped up 4-2 at Consti B.

Breaks of 32 and 22 from Sean Swinburn (O49) weren’t enough for either him or Sutton, as he lost the decisive final frame to Steve Spencer (R14).

Meanwhile, Tulips A got the better of Holbeach A 4-2 in an eagerly-anticipated showdown. A black ball win from Nathan Wilson (O14) in the fourth frame proved to be the key moment.

It was also close as Holbeach C beat Donington C 4-2, despite a 31 break from Neil Reynolds (O49).

In Division Two, Consti F extended their lead at the top to three points after beating nearest rivals Boundary C 4-2. Mick Walker (O28) made breaks of 32 and 30 for the Deepings side, but Justyn Stanley’s (R14) final frame win saw Consti home.

Third-placed Donington A slipped up 4-2 at home against Gosberton A (now fifth) despite a 31 break from Tony Scully (O35).

Fourth place now belongs to Tulips C, who got the better of Holbeach E 4-2.

Chris Page (scr) settled that contest with a black ball win in the penultimate frame.

Elsewhere, a 30 break from Tim Nash (O28) helped Services B see off hosts Pyramid C 4-2.

In Division Three, Bourne SC B stay three points clear with a 4-2 triumph at Gosberton B. Jake Mitchell’s (O14) 38 break was the highlight there.
Second-paced Consti I edged past club mates Consti E 4-2 as Jonathan Smith (R14) reeled off a 28 break.

It was also a strong week for Gosberton D and Whittlesey A, who won 6-0 against Donington D and Consti D respectively.
