Snooker round-up: Top tier trio maintain their winning starts in Spalding League

Three Division One teams boast 100 per cent records after the second round of fixtures in the Spalding and District Snooker League.

Pyramid D, Bourne SC A and Holbeach C are all riding high in the early standings with two wins from two after Thursday night’s action.

It’s Pyramid D who lead the embryonic table with nine points after they beat Boundary B 5-1, while Bourne SC A won 4-2 at Services C and Holbeach C collected four points at Long Sutton A.

As ever, BSC A’s Mark Gray (O105) was on-song with a super 77 break, but it was team-mate Carl Gibson (O21) who took the plaudits with a black-ball success over Services star Craig Fitter (O63) in the final frame.

For Holbeach C, Nick Edwards (R7) clinched victory in the final frame against a Sutton side who benefited from Sean Swinburn’s (O49) 42 break.

Elsewhere in the top flight, a 42 break from Mark Woodberry (O56) helped Tulips B edge out Tulips A 4-2, while a cool 31 break from Spencer Dawkins (O56) steered Pyramid F to a 5-1 success over Holbeach A.

Five sides have two wins from as many games in Division Two, led by Donington A after their 5-1 success at Crowland A.

Nigel Brasier (O14) managed a 22 clearance in that one for the early table-toppers.

One point behind them are Consti F after their 5-1 home success over Pyramid C, while a 22 clearance from Lee Pickett (O21) was the highlight of third-placed Holbeach E’s 4-2 win at Services B.

The other sides with two wins are Tulips C and Whittlesey C, who won 4-2 over Boundary C and Long Sutton B respectively. Jim Howe (O42) sank a 32 break in vain for defeated Deepings side Boundary.

In Division Three, Consti E and Gosberton D both have ten points from two games and sit joint top.

One point below them, Pyramid B and Consti I also have two wins from as many games after seeing off Consti D (4-2) and Consti J (5-1) respectively.

Charlie Sutton (O7) starred with breaks of 24 and 22 as Bourne SC B saw off Services D 4-2, while Adrian Sharpe (O7) pocketed a 20 break in Pyramid E’s 6-0 whitewash over Consti A.
