No quarter was given by Pyramid D as they knocked the title chances of club mates Pyramid A in Division One of the Spalding and District Snooker League on Thursday night.
Having lost just once all season ahead of the all-Bourne battle, table-topping Pyramid A were beaten 4-2 as Marcus Hamilton (O35), Pete Grose (scr) and, crucially, Pete Jackson (R7) all secured frame victories.
Another of the D team players, James Sharpe (O49), also starred with a cool 27 break as the chasing pack were given a rare chance to close the gap on the long-term leaders.One of those sides, Holbeach D, failed to take advantage as they were also beaten 4-2 at Services C.
Mark Spiller (scr) settled that clash with victory in the penultimate frame, sinking a 24 break in the process.
It was 4-2 at Consti B too, as the basement boys slipped up at home against Sutton Bridge B.
A 32 break from Mick Johnson was in vain for the hosts, as Wayne Dent (O42), Derek Beba (scr) and Stuart Atkin (O49) all claimed wins.
Dent shone for Bridge with breaks of 26 and 23 before a 22 clearance.
Completing a set of top tier 4-2 wins were Donington C, who dispatched Consti G on their own baize.
Mat Turner (O28) was on-song with a 39 break for the victors, with team-mate Neil Reynolds (O49) adding a 25 break and 21 clearance.
In Division Two, leaders Bourne SC C were made to work very hard for their 4-2 home win over Boundary D.
In a game that saw two frames go to the final black, Pete Ransome (O21) defeated Adam Blades (R7) 64-56 in the last frame to settle the match.
Second-placed Sutton Bridge A gained a point on them as they knocked off Holbeach E 5-1.
Glenn Ryan (O14) and Shane Balding (O49) impressed with breaks of 22 and 21 for the title hopefuls.
Fourth-placed Consti F also bagged a 4-2 victory as they beat Services E.
Ian Smith (scr) shone with a 30 break for Services, but his win was in vain.
Meanwhile, Consti H were the big winners for the week as they despatched hosts Services B 6-0.
Seb Grimston (O28) and Doug Garfoot (O21) made breaks of 22 and 21 respectively in that one.
Also winners were Donington A, who handed hosts Holbeach F a 4-2 reverse.
Kevin Hawes (O14) settled that one in the penultimate frame for the visitors.
In Division Three, it was a good week for leaders Pyramid B as they picked up a 5-1 win over friendly foes Pyramid E.
A 25 break from Lester Gaunt (O49) in the first frame set them on their way.
Second-placed Consti I slipped up at Gosberton B, going down 4-2.
This one went to the final frame, with Stuart Ruskin (R7) getting the better of Pete Stokes (R7) on the black (51-44).
Elsewhere in Division Three, Consti J enjoyed a 5-1 success at Gosberton C.
Their frame wins came from Trevor Braybrook (R7), Les Andrews (R7), Neville Vickers (R7) and Peter Orange (R21).
Also on winning form were Consti A, who edged past Consti D 4-2 with Nic Savic (O49) racking up breaks of 30 and 21.
The score was the same as Whittlesey B got the better of Consti C.
The hosts could have racked up a whitewash win, but for black-ball wins from Mick Peet (R28) and Kevin Sweeney (R7) for the visitors.
Andy Skutela (R7), Kay Skutela (R21) and Steve Jennings (O28) got the Whittlesey wins.
