Pyramid D missed the chance to go clear at the top of Spalding and District Snooker League Division One on Thursday night – after losing to a team of friendly foes.
The table-toppers were upset by club mates Pyramid A 4-2 in a result that ripped up the form book completely.
Frame wins from Paul Blackbourne (R7), Matt Chapman (scr) and Michael Twell (R7) settled the all-Bourne battle in the A team’s favour, with the D side now just a point clear at the top.
That’s after Tulips B saw off Long Sutton A 4-2 in a tight tussle. Not even a 37 break from Sutton’s Matthew Smith (O35) could stop Tulips, who clinched the win in final frame thanks to Mark Wilkinson (O14).
Consti B, who would have gone top with a win, went down 5-1 at home to Holbeach A. Colin Dodd (O21) sank a 32 break for the on-song away side.
That allowed Bourne SC A to propel themselves back into the mix with a 5-1 home win over Donington C.
Black ball victories from Carl Gibson (O21) and Max Ayliff (O14) were key for them.
The best break of the week came in Holbeach C’s 5-1 success at Boundary B, as Mark Gregory (O21) sank a super 51 for the winners.
In Division Two, leaders Consti F made it seven wins from eight by beating Consti H 4-2. Doug Garfoot (O28) made a 28 break in vain for the losing side.
Boundary C are only one point behind after beating Long Sutton B 5-1. Mick Walker (O28) starred with a 35 break and 25 clearance in that one.
Third-placed Donington A lost ground after a 5-1 home reverse against Tulips A – who are now fourth.
Elsewhere, Richard Lowe (O35) sank a 32 break in Holbeach B’s 5-1 win over Services B, while Carl Parnell (O28) made a 25 break in Sutton Bridge’s 4-2 home loss to Consti G.
In Division Three, Bourne SC B are now joint top following their 4-2 win at Consti J. Gary Surridge (scr) made a 24 break there.
They are level with Pyramid B, who went down 4-2 at home to fourth-placed Consti I.
Meanwhile, Simon Slinger (R7) helped himself to a 22 break and Kieran Richardss-Witham (O14) made a 22 clearance as Gosberton B defeated Consti E 4-2.
