Snooker round-up: In-form Services E strike down leaders once again

A stellar 62 break from Craig Fitter helped Services E topple Spalding and District Snooker League Division One leaders Bourne SC A on Thursday night.

Wins from Chris Dunmore (O7), Phil Spencer (O14) and Fitter (O63) got the job done for the Spalding side, who are now just two points behind Bourne in third.

Fitter’s also reeled off a 26 break for his side, who have now beaten the league’s top two in successive weeks.

That result allowed Pyramid B to assume command at the summit once again. They defeated hosts Holbeach A 4-2, with Spencer Dawkins (O49) starring.

He sank breaks of 38 and 20 en-route to defeating Mick Ayres Jnr (R14).

Also winning well were fourth-placed Donington C, who saw off Tulips A 5-1.

Ben Wrigglesworth (O21) and Neil Reynolds (O49) pocketed breaks of 30 and 23 in that one.

Away from the race for the title, Robert Adams (O14) made a 33 break in Consti F’s 4-2 win over Holbeach D.

Paul Daw (O28) did hit back with a 30 break for the defeated visitors.

The big winners in the top flight were Donington A, who drubbed Tulips B 6-0 in a game that saw Tint Scully (O28) sink a cool 32 break in the final frame.

Down in Division Two, leaders Boundary A were handed a 5-1 beating at title rivals Long Sutton B.

Wayne Howard’s (O28) breaks of 27 and 22 in the final frame were the highlight for Sutton, who are third.

Second-placed Consti G took full advantage of the Boundary slip-up with a big 5-1 win at Pyramid C.

They are now just a point behind the Deepings side.

It was a good week for the division’s bottom two sides, with both winning 4-2.

Boundary C saw off hosts Services B in a game that saw both Mick Walker (O28) and Shaun Ketteringham (O21) reel off 25 clearances.

Fellow strugglers Consti H beat Gosberton. Seb Grimston (O21) bagged a 27 break in that one.

In Division Three, Donington B took over at the top after a 4-2 victory at Consti E – sealed in the final frame by Mick Clark (R7).

Elsewhere, a 22 clearance from Steve Jennings (O21) helped Whittlesey A beat Pyramid E 5-1 and Stuart Ruskin (R7) sank a 21 break in vain as his Gosberton B side were handed a 5-1 home reverse by Consti J.
