Title hopefuls Holbeach C enjoyed a super 6-0 win on Thursday night as they closed in on the Spalding and District Snooker League Division One leaders.
The second-placed side thrashed a talented Bourne SC A side thanks to wins from Paul Ashton (R14), Shaun Lee (O28), Dan Ashton (scr), Damo Lewis (R14) and Mark Gregory (O28).
Mark Gray (O105) shone with a 45 break and 25 clearance for Bourne, while team-mate Max Ayliff (O7) added a cool 33 break.
But it was Holbeach who took the team plaudits as they closed to within seven points of table-topping Pyramid A with a game in hand.
Third placed Holbeach D, meanwhile, got the better of Sutton Bridge B 4-2 in a much closer contest.
Ian Woodberry’s (R7) 92-84 success over Stuart Atkin (O49) in the final frame proved decisive there.
Bridge’s Wayne Dent (O42) starred with breaks of 30 and 28 in that one.
Pyramid C remain fourth and very much in the mix after a 4-2 win of their own at Services C.
Jason Green (O63), who made a 20 break, settled that clash by winning the penultimate frame.
At the other end of the table, Consti B jumped off the bottom with a 4-2 victory over Holbeach A.
They won the first three frames of the clash to secure only a second win of the season, with John Christian (scr), Steve Spencer (R14) and Christian again – who made a 23 break in the process – doing the business.
In Division Two, Sutton Bridge A took over at the top with a 4-2 triumph at Holbeach B.
Breaks of 20 from both Glenn Ryan (O7) and Thomas Horspool (O42) helped them on their way, with Mick Tiller (scr) settling the contest in the final frame.
It was more emphatic as Services B knocked off Whittlesey C 5-1 in a game that saw Tim Nash (O28) make a 20 break before finishing with a 25 clearance.
The score was also 5-1 as Gosberton A got the better of Consti H in a rearranged fixture. Their wins came from Jamie Mumby (scr), Carl Wand (O7), Alan Jackson (O14) and Geoff Wand (R7).
Elsewhere in Division Two, a 30 clearance from Mick Walker (O35) couldn’t stop Boundary B losing 4-2 at home to Donington A.
In Division Three, Gosberton B slipped up in the title race as they went down 5-1 at Services D.
Simon Slinger (R14) did at least deny the hosts a maximum win as he beat Jake Haslam (scr) on the final black.
That allowed Whittlesey A to close the gap on the sides above with a 4-2 win over Consti A. Malc Bruce (O7) settled that on in the penultimate frame, while Steve Jennings (O28) made a 29 break.
- The quality was high as Sutton Bridge A defeated Boundary 4-2 in the Norey Cup last week.
Shane Balding shone with a 60 break for Bridge, while team-mate Thomas Hospool bagged a 56 break too.
